Belarusian Enterprises Shed More Jobs Than They Created in January

Belarusian enterprises in January, as in December, shed more jobs than they created. A total of 43.54 thousand people were hired in the first month of the year, while 44.3 thousand were dismissed. The number of dismissals exceeded the number of hires by 783 people, according to data from the National Statistical Committee of Belarus. The report does not include data on micro and small enterprises without departmental subordination.

Compared with January 2025, the number of hires increased by 1.6 percent, while the number of dismissals rose by 4 percent.

In January, a negative balance in favor of dismissals was recorded in industry (-271), education (-516), healthcare (-497), trade (-720), and transport and logistics (-599).

A positive balance in favor of hiring in January was recorded in agriculture, forestry and fishing (+219), construction (+95), information and communications (+161), education (+205), and public administration (+147).
