Belarusian Detained at Polish-German Border Over Unpaid Fine

On the evening of January 19, during a check of a bus near the former Pomellen border crossing, German police detained a Belarusian citizen holding a Polish residence permit, PressePortal reported.

The 48-year-old man was traveling to Germany on a passenger bus. During the check, police found that he was wanted at the request of the Tübingen public prosecutor’s office in connection with a theft case. He was offered the option of paying a €600 fine and €77.50 in court costs or serving 15 days in custody. The Belarusian paid the fine and continued his journey.
