Belarusian and Lithuanian border guards have met at the Lavoriškės checkpoint for a previously announced meeting.
The State Border Committee said the sides are discussing the situation along the Belarusian-Lithuanian section of the border, as well as ways to counter illegal migration and combat smuggling outside official checkpoints.
The meeting is being held at the level of deputy chief border commissioners of Belarus and Lithuania.
Lithuania has attached significant importance to this meeting. Its outcome may influence the government’s decision on whether to reopen the border with Belarus.
