Belarus Extends Permission for Carriers to Use Cash Foreign Currency in Settlements With Non-Residents for Another Year

The Council of Ministers and the National Bank have amended Joint Resolution No. 231/12 of 1 April 2024. The new Resolution No. 697/26 was published today on the National Legal Internet Portal.

It states that Belarusian legal entities and individual entrepreneurs engaged in road freight transport may withdraw cash foreign currency (US dollars and euros) from their bank accounts and use it to settle with non-residents under contracts for the import of services related to international road freight transport, carried out in accordance with the legally established specific procedures for cargo operations and (or) trailer swapping. The new resolution extends the validity of this measure until 31 December 2026.

In addition, the document also amends Joint Resolution No. 364-dsp/14-dsp of 7 June 2022 issued by the Council of Ministers and the National Bank. This amendment is classified as for official use only.

According to the preamble, the new resolution of the Council of Ministers and the National Bank was adopted on the basis of the decree “On Additional Measures to Ensure the Stable Functioning of the Economy” and the law “On Currency Regulation and Currency Control”.
