Belarus’ Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Aliaksei Panferau, spoke at a United Nations Security Council meeting held as part of an open debate on upholding the principles of the UN Charter, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.

Panferau said that sanctions imposed outside the framework of the UN Charter should be “eradicated as a phenomenon” and expressed solidarity with all countries subjected to such measures.

“We would particularly stress the need for the immediate lifting of all restrictive measures and the abolition of the economic and financial blockade of Cuba,” he said.
