Minsk Airport has increased its cargo throughput by 15% following the addition of Airbus A330 aircraft to Belavia’s fleet. The airport’s Director General, Uladzimir Charaukhin, said this in an interview with Belarusian television.

“It is impossible to stop at any one area. Several routes have recorded growth, including Moscow, Istanbul and Dubai. And, as I said earlier, the arrival of the long-haul Airbus A330 has allowed us to increase cargo traffic through Minsk to China and Sri Lanka.

Cargo turnover continues to grow. We are continuing our efforts to attract new airlines, including cargo carriers. Our current capacity fully meets the demand from airlines,” he said.

According to Charaukhin, most of the cargo transported by air consists of machinery and equipment.

Last year, the Belarusian capital’s airport served nearly 3 million passengers. Its best annual result remains 5.1 million passengers, recorded in 2019.

The airport’s summer schedule includes 35 regular routes and 12 charter destinations.
