Belarusian border guards detained a 55-year-old Dutch citizen at the Brest border crossing while she was allegedly attempting to bring marijuana into Belarus from Poland. The incident occurred on July 7, the Belarusian State Border Committee’s press service reported.
During an inspection of the vehicle, border guards found several packages containing a plant-based substance that was identified by experts as marijuana. A more thorough search uncovered two additional packages containing the same substance, a grinder and six glass vials with traces of CBD oil.
“During the investigation, the woman behaved aggressively. A medical examination confirmed that she had used marijuana,” the press release said.
According to the detainee, she was travelling to Moscow to visit her daughter but was unable to provide her exact address.
Criminal cases have been opened over the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and their unlawful transportation across the border.
