Energy Minister Dzianis Maroz held a meeting with Turkey’s ambassador to Belarus Güçlü Cem Işık. The sides discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
During the talks, they considered cooperation in the gas industry, including the construction of networks and the production of equipment and metering devices, as well as supplies of peat products and goods derived from its deep processing. Maroz noted that Belarus extracts about 2 million tonnes of peat annually, which is used as fuel and as raw material for producing soil mixtures and agricultural products.
The sides also discussed prospects for supplying peat products and processed peat materials to the Turkish market.
The Turkish side was informed about the progress of modernization of Belarus’ power grid infrastructure. In addition, the parties discussed the exchange of experience in the field of nuclear energy.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed on an algorithm for further cooperation and confirmed their readiness to develop collaboration in all the areas discussed.
