The introduction of bank card payments on surface public transport in Minsk will begin on September 1. Procurement of new validators is already under way, and installation of the devices in vehicles has started.
“At the moment, we can say with confidence that the procurement procedure is under way. The state enterprise Minsktrans is handling this process, and as the equipment is acquired and purchased, installation will follow. Yes, this will most likely not happen all at once, but in stages”, said Yury Supranovich, director of the enterprise “Capital Transport and Communications,” on Radio Minsk.
According to him, passengers will be able to pay for travel on surface public transport using bank cards from September 1. The system will be introduced gradually. For now, the option is available only on two pilot routes.
