Belarusian customs authorities prevented the illegal import of fishing equipment into the country. The carrier hid the goods inside yarn.

A грузовой vehicle was stopped at the Belarusian-Russian border. The driver presented documents declaring the transportation of about 800 kilograms of yarn. Customs officers inspected the cargo compartment and, in addition to the declared goods, discovered more than 100,000 units of fishing equipment. The driver had no documents for the goods.

The value of the smuggled cargo is estimated at nearly 360,000 rubles. Administrative proceedings have been initiated against a Belarusian sole proprietor. He faces a fine of up to 50% of the value of the goods, the State Customs Committee reported.
