Alyaksandr Lukashenka begins a visit to Algeria today, departing from Oman. According to his press service, the official visit will take place on 2–3 December.
Talks are scheduled with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The focus will be on deepening trade and economic cooperation and implementing mutually beneficial bilateral projects.
“The agenda includes discussions on prospects for supplying machinery and industrial cooperation, as well as interaction in the agro-industrial sector, healthcare, education, and the humanitarian sphere as a whole,” the press service said.
A joint business forum was held in Algeria the day before, along with negotiations at the level of ministers and the leadership of enterprises and companies.
During the business forum, it was noted that the trade turnover between the two countries has not yet reached even 50 million dollars. Most of it consists of Belarusian exports to Algeria. It was noted that these supplies are mainly carried out through intermediaries. The Belarusian side was represented by around two dozen enterprises, while the Algerian side included more than one hundred.
“A number of commercial documents were signed following the business forum. Issues related to payment and logistics were also discussed. Representatives of banks were among the forum participants to present available options and conditions,” the statement said.
The total value of the contracts signed was not disclosed.
