Ales Bialiatski Meets Pope Leo XIV

Nobel laureate Ales Bialiatski met with Pope Leo XIV. The meeting took place today during the pontiff’s weekly audience. Every Wednesday, the Pope delivers a prayer and blesses the faithful in St. Peter’s Square. Following the general audience, the pontiff spoke briefly with Bialiatski and his wife Natallia.

A photograph of the brief meeting was published by Christian Vision. According to the group, Bialiatski told Leo XIV about the human rights situation in Belarus and asked for his prayers and attention to what he described as the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Belarus.
