A Kazakh carrier attempted to save 15,000 Belarusian roubles on customs payments by understating the value of the cargo in the documents.
The truck entered Belarus from Lithuania through the Kamenny Loh border checkpoint. The vehicle was carrying 94 indoor and outdoor air conditioner units.
The driver presented invalid documents in which the value of the goods had been understated by €23,000. In this way, the carrier sought to save 15,000 Belarusian roubles on customs duties, according to the State Customs Committee.
Administrative proceedings were launched against the carrier under Part 3 of Article 15.5 of the Administrative Code. The carrier will have to pay the missing customs duties as well as a fine of up to 30% of the value of the illegally imported goods, whose actual value amounted to €110,000.
