In the first hours of 2026, 76 children were born in Belarus — 39 girls and 37 boys, the Ministry of Health reported.
Five babies were born in the very first minutes of the new year. Three girls were born at 00:01 — in maternity hospitals in the Vitsyebsk Region, Vitsyebsk, and Lida. At 00:02, a boy was born in the Hrodna Region, and at 00:03 another girl was born in Mahilyow.
In the Brest Region, 11 children were born during New Year’s night — four boys and seven girls. The first New Year baby of the region was born in Brest at 01:50. In total, eight children were born in the regional maternity hospital of the regional center on the festive night, one in Baranavichy, and two more in Pinsk.
In the Vitsyebsk Region, 10 children were born — five boys and five girls. The first two girls were born at 00:01. One of the newborns became the sixth child in a family from Senna. Doctors noted that the deliveries went well.
In the Homyel Region, four newborns were born — two boys and two girls. The first “New Year” baby girl was born at 11:37 and became the fourth child in the family.
In the Hrodna Region, eight children were born in the first hours of the year — three boys and five girls. The first girl was born in Lida at 00:01 and became the third child in the family. A minute later, a boy weighing 3.6 kg was born in Hrodna.
In the Minsk Region, there were 13 newborns — five boys and eight girls. The first child of the region was born in Maladzechna at 05:07. The boy was born into the family of a nurse at the Maladzechna Central District Hospital.
In Minsk, 16 children were born during New Year’s night — 10 boys and six girls. The first baby was born at 04:00. The daughter of a citizen of Turkmenistan became the first child in a young family. The second newborn of the capital was a baby girl born at 07:39.
In the Mahilyow Region, 10 children were born — six boys and four girls. The first girl was born at 00:03 and became the third child in the family.
At the Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Mother and Child,” four children were born in the first hours of the new year — two boys and two girls. In one family, the birth of a baby became grounds for receiving large-family status, while in another family twins were born.
