Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia carried out massive strikes against the country’s civilian infrastructure over the past week. According to him, more than 2,300 attack drones, nearly 1,560 guided aerial bombs and 108 missiles of various types were used.
“All of these strikes were directed exclusively at ordinary civilian infrastructure — residential buildings and energy facilities,” the Ukrainian leader said.
He also announced that Ukraine had received a new IRIS-T launcher from Germany and thanked the German side for its support.
“Thousands upon thousands of lives have been saved thanks to such strong support. But we also need missiles for air defence systems to have sufficient capabilities to repel Russian attacks,” Zelenskyy said.
He also announced a new aid package from Sweden, including Gripen fighter jets to strengthen Ukraine’s air force. The president stressed that protection against ballistic missiles remains one of Ukraine’s key priorities and called on partners to continue supplying missiles for air defence systems.
“Strong air defence can provide greater protection for our people and deprive Russia of its last advantage,” he said.
