Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on May 11 at the Estonian House in Stockholm presented medals of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus to four laureates. The decisions on the awards were adopted by the cabinet in 2025.
The medal “For Fruitful Work For The Benefit Of Belarus” for cultural dialogue, support and solidarity with the Belarusian people was awarded to Taave Sõt Vahermägi, head of the Estonian House in Stockholm and a long-time organizer of cultural and public initiatives, and Sirle Sõt, chair of the Union of Estonians in Sweden and co-head of the Estonian House, who actively supports the Belarusian agenda and assists in organizing Belarusian events.
The same medal for достойное содействие in public and professional activity was awarded to Maria Söderberg, a Swedish photojournalist and writer, former head of the Belarus Society in Sweden, who devoted her professional work to covering conflicts in authoritarian countries, including Belarus.
The Francysk Skaryna Medal for dedication to the interests of the Belarusian people, popularization of Belarusian history and culture, and active participation in diaspora life was awarded to historian Andrej Kotljarchuk, lecturer at the Department of History of Stockholm University and senior researcher at Södertörn University. The award was handed over to the laureate through the representative of the People’s Embassy in Sweden Dzmitry Vasserman.
