The book “Ruins of Belarus” by the VEHA initiative has been nominated for the Najpiękniejsze Polskie Książki 2025 award in the “art” category (albums, catalogs, photo books).
“Ruins of Belarus” is the first book by VEHA, published jointly with Polish publishers. The co-publisher of the book is the Belarusian Cultural Center in Białystok (in cooperation with the Arsenal Gallery in Białystok). The publication includes photographs from the archive collected by the center.

The new photographic collection by VEHA tells the story of the fate of Belarusian stone buildings. The book features photographs of destroyed architectural monuments sourced from 45 family and public archives.
Wars, neglect, and state violence destroyed castles and churches, town halls and temples, synagogues and houses. Many of them have disappeared without a trace from the earth but remain preserved in photographs.
The team continues to collect materials for the second volume of “Ruins of Belarus,” which will be released as more photographs are submitted.
