Poland’s Border Guard has reported on two operations targeting organizers of illegal migration.
Officers from the Nadbużański Border Guard Unit detained a 27-year-old Polish citizen. He is suspected of organizing the illegal crossing of the Belarus-Poland border in 2025. The man regularly and frequently changed his place of residence, making him difficult to locate. Investigators ultimately tracked him down.
During a search, officers also found 2.2 kilograms of mephedrone in his possession.
He has been charged with organizing illegal migration and drug possession. The man has been placed in pre-trial detention for three months.
The second operation was conducted in the Mazowieckie and Silesian voivodeships. Investigators uncovered a scheme that enabled foreign nationals to obtain seasonal work permits, secure visas and enter Poland with the intention of subsequently relocating to other European Union countries. The group’s clients included nationals of Turkey, Pakistan, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Nepal, Turkmenistan, Georgia and India.
“It was established that individuals running construction companies and employment agencies in Silesia fraudulently obtained documents from provincial and labour offices, which they then sent abroad while charging several hundred euros for the service. This enabled foreign nationals to obtain authentic documents allowing them to apply for work visas at consulates. Using these documents, they entered Poland and the Schengen Area under the pretext of employment. The evidence gathered indicates that the scale of the operation in one branch of the investigation may have exceeded one thousand people,” the statement said.
Four Polish citizens and one Ukrainian citizen were detained in Silesia.
In May this year, seven people were detained in Mazowieckie Voivodeship, including orchard owners and employees of the district employment office in Grójec.
During the operations, investigators seized numerous pieces of evidence and large sums of money.
