A mobile system for detecting unpaid parking has been launched in Minsk, the Minsk City Executive Committee said. The system consists of a vehicle equipped with cameras that patrols the streets of the capital.
“The mobile system fully complies with all requirements for operation in our country. Trial operation has shown that the vehicle registration number recognition rate is very high,” said Mikhail Filipau, director of the Capital Parking municipal enterprise.
For now, the system will monitor parking payments with the participation of a company employee. Fifteen minutes after the vehicle passes, a staff member will verify payment for the vehicles whose registration numbers were recorded by the system. If no payment has been made, the vehicle owner will receive a notice.
“If payment has not been made, the owner’s details are identified and a claim is generated for the vehicle, which is stored in the parkouka.by software system. If the owner does not respond to the claim, a lawsuit is prepared and submitted to the court,” Filippov explained, describing the subsequent procedure.
Minsk has 77 paid parking facilities, including seven closed-access parking areas.
