One hundred incidents involving passengers and members of the public were recorded in the Minsk Metro during the first six months of the year. In 62 cases, people sustained injuries, according to statistics released by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
During the first half of the year, there were seven cases of people falling onto the tracks. In three cases, the cause was the person’s health condition, while four were attributed to violations of metro safety rules and negligence.
The Prosecutor General’s Office also cited several examples. At Maladziozhnaya station, a passenger attempted to overtake people standing on the escalator, lost balance, fell and injured an arm.
At Spartyunaya station, one passenger crossed the safety line on the platform, held onto the barrier and, despite a warning from the station attendant, climbed down onto Track II and walked towards Kuntsaushchyna station.
At Malinauka station, a young man jumped from the platform onto Track I to retrieve earphones that had fallen onto the tracks. He ignored the station attendant’s instruction to remain where he was and climbed back onto the platform on his own.
In these cases, metro employees managed to cut power to the contact rail in time.
A minor jumped onto Track II at Praletarskaya station, where he remained standing next to the track wall until a train arrived. He was then escorted out through a carriage of the arriving train by a metro security officer.
In 2025, the metro recorded 195 passenger-related incidents, with injuries sustained in 130 cases. There were 15 cases of people falling onto the tracks, including seven linked to health conditions and five to negligence. There were also two suicide attempts and one fatal suicide.
