Belarus’ Ministry of Defense has warned that Presidential Decree No. 5 of January 9 will enter into force on February 11, introducing an administrative procedure titled “Issuance of a Certificate on Attitude Toward Military Duty.”
Such a certificate will be required to obtain or replace a passport, a driver’s license, and a permit for the acquisition and storage of civilian weapons.
“Military commissariats and their separate subdivisions will issue the certificate free of charge to all male citizens aged 18 to 27 no later than one working day,” the Ministry of Defense said.
The ministry noted that the certificate will be issued to anyone who personally applies to a military commissariat or its separate subdivision at their place of residence, regardless of whether they are subject to military duty.
“The purpose of the procedure is to ensure that citizens fulfill their military duty and to achieve completeness and accuracy of military registration data,” the ministry explained.
