Former Architecture and Construction Minister and Lukashenka’s aide-inspector for Homiel Region Ruslan Parkhamovich will head the Homiel City Executive Committee. His candidacy was approved today by Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

According to Lukashenka, Parkhamovich’s experience will be an asset for Homiel Regional Executive Committee Chairman Ivan Krupko.

“Great experience, very great — a member of the government, had to work with personnel. I think this will be good support for Ivan Ivanovich,” Lukashenka said, according to his press service.

Lukashenka asked Parkhamovich why he agreed to take the new position.

“I am more inclined toward practical work. I have tried myself in different roles. But working ‘in the field’ is probably more suitable for me. I am deeply immersed in the situation in the second-largest city of our country. I see that the city has prospects. We need to work on utilities and construction. We also need to work on healthcare and education. There are starting points. But the city has sufficient reserves,” he replied.

Lukashenka expressed hope that affairs in Homiel would improve with Parkhamovich’s arrival.

“A beautiful city. Quite a lot has been done there recently to improve its appearance. There is enough water there. The people are very good there. In Homiel and in Homiel Region in general, the people are good. Therefore, it is possible to work there. I very much hope that with the arrival of the new mayor of Homiel, everything there will move in a better direction. Especially since you already have considerable experience. Therefore, I very much want it to work out. Only forward,” he said.

Lukashenka also today approved Alyaksandr Verameyeu for the position of chairman of the Mazyr District Executive Committee.
