Lithuanian police intend to place Antanas Kandrotas, also known as Celofanas, on the international wanted list after he left for Belarus.
On Thursday, the Lithuanian Court of Appeal issued its final verdict in Kandrotas’s case. He was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for tax-related offences involving illegal fuel trading and tax evasion. The court reduced the sentence originally imposed on Kandrotas.
“After receiving the court’s ruling, all circumstances will be examined and it will be established that he is in a foreign country, after which an international search will be declared. Information about the international search will be circulated through Interpol channels. Belarus and Russia are member states of Interpol,” Police Department spokesperson Ramūnas Matonis told Elta on Friday.
Kandrotas has been in Belarus since early May. He has repeatedly appeared on propaganda programmes.
