Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has said he does not rule out visiting Brest on June 22 for events marking the 85th anniversary of Nazi Germany’s invasion of the Soviet Union. The statement came in the context of his remarks on Slovakia’s foreign policy. A video of his speech was published on Facebook.
Among his other planned trips, Fico mentioned a visit to Normandy on June 6, a possible trip to the United States for celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of independence, and a visit to Poland on September 1, the anniversary of the start of the Second World War.
Fico said he maintains dialogue with both the Ukrainian and Russian presidents and intends to continue doing so regardless of criticism.
“In the European Union, I do not know anyone — and I say this in all seriousness — who is simultaneously maintaining dialogue with both the Russian and Ukrainian presidents. There is no such politician in the EU. I am conducting this dialogue and will continue to do so,” he said.
