Charhinets on Belavia–Boeing Cooperation: No Contracts Yet

News

Belavia plans to expand its aircraft fleet this year and is holding talks with Boeing, but no contracts have been signed yet. This was stated at a press conference on February 27 by the airline’s chief executive Ihar Charhinets.

“I hope we will increase the number of aircraft already this year,” BelTA quoted Charhinets as saying.

According to him, various options are being considered, but the market situation is complicated. Belavia is looking at the possibility of cooperation with Russian companies, but Russian-made aircraft are still undergoing testing and are at the certification stage. At the same time, options involving Western-made aircraft are also being explored.

Charhinets pointed to difficulties in resuming cooperation with Boeing following the lifting of US sanctions, but described the processes as positive.

“Legally and politically, the decisions have been made. We are grateful. Time is needed. There are no hidden pitfalls — it is just very difficult to restart the mechanism. We meet with Boeing, we communicate. There are no contracts yet. All the processes are ongoing, and they are positive,” the Belavia chief executive said.
