International organization Transparency International has published the Corruption Perceptions Index for 2025.
Belarus ranked 124th out of 182 countries included in the ranking. Compared with 2024, the country dropped by 10 positions. Belarus’s Corruption Perceptions Index score stood at 31 points, which is two points lower than a year earlier.
The authors of the study note a general deterioration of indicators worldwide. A total of 122 countries scored below 50 points, indicating the widespread nature of corruption. Only five countries scored above 80 points, whereas ten years ago there were 12.
“The number of countries scoring above 80 points has fallen from 12 ten years ago to just five this year. In particular, there is a worrying trend of worsening corruption levels in democratic countries — from the United States (64), Canada (75), and New Zealand (81) to various parts of Europe, such as the United Kingdom (70), France (66), and Sweden (80),” the document said.
Among Belarus’s neighbors, Lithuania ranks highest in the index at 28th place, followed by Latvia (37th), Poland (52nd), Ukraine (104th), and Russia (157th).
Among the leaders of the ranking, with the lowest levels of corruption, are Denmark, Finland, Singapore, New Zealand, and Norway. The worst scores were recorded by South Sudan, Somalia, Venezuela, Yemen, and Libya.
