Another batch of Su-30SM2 fighter jets has arrived in Belarus. After undergoing technical familiarisation at the air base, the aircraft will be placed on combat duty, the Defence Ministry said.
“The arrival of new aviation equipment has already become a good tradition: the fleet is being steadily renewed. Take a look at the newly arrived Su-30SM2 aircraft. This is a fighter jet that meets all the requirements for aviation equipment of this class. Flying it is a real pleasure.
Soon these aircraft will undergo technical familiarisation at the air base and, within a maximum of two weeks, will begin protecting our beloved Motherland in the airspace,” said Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Forces and Chief of Aviation, Colonel Aleksandr Belyaev.
Belyaev stressed that this is not the last batch of aircraft to arrive in Belarus.
“This is not the final batch: new equipment will continue to arrive in the future, and the defence capability of our air borders will increase,” he said.
In August this year, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Forces Andrei Lukyanovich said that the arrival of four more Su-30SM2 aircraft was expected by the end of 2025.
The Defence Ministry did not disclose how many aircraft arrived. Their tail numbers were blurred in official photographs. However, secrecy could not be maintained due to Russian bloggers. On December 25, photos of two new Su-30SM2 jets appeared online, taken during refuelling at Novosibirsk’s Tolmachevo Airport.
