Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, commented on Belarus and European security in the context of reports about the deployment of Oreshnik missiles.
He also referred to Iran, saying that the international community is not offering support to the Iranian people in their struggle for freedom and democratic change.
“When it comes to Iran, everyone is waiting to see what America will do. But the world offers nothing, Europe offers nothing and does not want to step into this issue on the side of supporting the Iranian people and the democracy they need. But if you refuse to help a people who are fighting for freedom, there will be consequences, and they are always negative,” he said.
“Belarus in 2020 is an example. No one helped their people, and now Russian Oreshnik missiles are deployed in Belarus and can reach most European capitals. This would not have happened if the Belarusian people had prevailed in 2020.
And we told our European partners many times: act now. Act now against these missiles in Belarus. Missiles are never just decorations. But Europe is still in ‘Greenland mode’ — maybe someone will do something someday,” the Ukrainian leader added.
