Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged people not to forget that Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 began from Belarusian territory.
“We must not forget Lukashenka. Now he suddenly became very talkative in the media, showing how ‘kind’ he is to our people. But we did not need his kindness at four in the morning, when the rockets came. And if he thinks he can talk away our memory with his words — we are young people, we remember everything perfectly. And he will still have to pay for what he did — for allowing the offensive from his territory.
The start of the full-scale war came at us from the territory of Belarus. No one will ever forget that,” Zelensky said at a briefing on November 7.
The Ukrainian president reiterated that he does not consider Belarus a possible venue for peace talks. According to him, Ukraine supports negotiations in any format if they can truly bring results.
“The unconditional exception is the territory of Russia and Belarus,” he emphasized.
In recent months, Alyaksandr Lukashenka has repeatedly called on Ukraine to accept Russia’s terms to end the war and has expressed his readiness to play a “small role” in mediation. On Tuesday, during the opening of a bridge in Mazyr, he invited Ukrainians to move to Belarus.
