Belstat recorded an increase in vodka sales in the first quarter of 2026. In recent years, they had generally been declining.
According to Belstat data, retail organisations sold alcoholic beverages and beer worth 1.6 billion roubles in the first quarter. The share of alcohol in total retail turnover amounted to 6.4%.
The volume of sales of alcoholic beverages and beer in terms of absolute alcohol decreased by 0.5% to 1.77 million decalitres.
In physical terms, sales increased for:
- vodka – by 2% to 1.966 million decalitres,
- liqueurs and liqueur products – by 17.3% to 341,300 decalitres,
- cognac, cognac-based drinks and brandy – by 6.7% to 343,000 decalitres,
- low-alcohol beverages – by 2.8% to 1.07 million decalitres.
At the same time, sales decreased for:
- grape wines – by 4.9% to 756,700 decalitres,
- fruit wines – by 21.3% to 643,900 decalitres,
- sparkling wines – by 2% to 522,200 decalitres,
- beer – by 3.6% to 8.6 million decalitres,
- other alcoholic beverages – by 7% to 281,700 decalitres.
