Tsikhanouskaya’s Office and the International Humanitarian Fund plan to expand the number of donor countries supporting the initiative. This was announced by Dzianis Kuchynski, diplomatic adviser to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, following a meeting with International Humanitarian Fund head Berit Lindeman.
“Expanding the circle of donor countries supporting the International Humanitarian Fund is one of the key ways to help Belarusians who have suffered from repression. Today, the fund is supported by 13 states. However, the goal of the Office, and of the international department in particular, is to broaden this circle and attract even more partners — at least 15 countries by the end of the year. The more countries participate in this initiative, the more people will be able to receive the assistance and support they need,” Kuchynski commented.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the fund’s work over the past two years, support for former political prisoners and repressed Belarusians, as well as its future strategy.
The International Humanitarian Fund was established in Norway in 2024 on the initiative of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. It has since become one of the key mechanisms for providing assistance. The fund also cooperates with Belarusian organizations, including “Volnyja”, “A Country to Live In”, INeedHelpBY and Dissidentby. In December 2025, the fund allocated more than €200,000 for urgent assistance to 123 political prisoners who had been expelled from Belarus.
Since its creation, the fund has received more than €3 million from donor countries.
Kuchynski thanked the fund and donor countries for their consistent support of Belarusians and said that assistance to political prisoners and victims of repression remains one of the main priorities.
