Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has welcomed the decision of the International Criminal Court to begin the investigation into crimes by the Lukashenka regime against the Belarusian people initiated by Lithuania.
“We welcome the ICC’s move to open probe, initiated by Lithuania, into Lukashenko regime’s crimes against the people of Belarus. This sends a powerful signal that there will be no impunity even for those who consider themselves above the law and basic norms of humanity. Justice is necessary for a better, European and democratic future of Belarus.” he wrote on X.
Sybiha stressed that Ukraine has long called for the regime to be held accountable — both for crimes against its own people and for supporting Russia in its aggression against Ukraine.
