A construction worker suffered fatal injuries in September 2025 after falling into a service opening at a construction site. A site supervisor has been charged under an article covering violations of construction safety regulations, according to the Investigative Committee.
The deceased, 37, was employed in the production of flat reinforcement mesh, three-dimensional reinforcement frames and rebar components. He was at the construction site wearing a helmet with the chin strap unfastened and without a safety harness. At some point, he lost his balance and fell into a service opening in the floor structure between the fourth and fifth floors. He died in hospital several days later.
According to the case materials, the organization’s 45-year-old supervisor deliberately allowed serious violations of safety requirements. He failed to ensure proper maintenance of work areas and permitted an employee to perform work at height without the necessary personal protective equipment. Despite safety regulations, the opening was neither fenced off nor covered with a solid protective platform.
The supervisor has been charged under Part 2 of Article 303 of the Criminal Code (violation of construction safety regulations resulting in death by negligence).
