Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou held a series of high-level meetings on the first day of his visit to Tanzania. He actively extended invitations to visit Minsk on official visits.

According to Belarus’ Foreign Ministry, during a meeting with Tanzanian Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba, Ryzhankou delivered a message from Lukashenka to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan inviting her to visit Belarus at a convenient time.

During the talks, the sides discussed converting a “high level of political interaction” into “practical results in the trade and economic sphere.” They noted the possibility of intensifying cooperation across all sectors, primarily in the economic sphere, with the aim of organizing supplies of goods in demand in both countries. The expansion of the legal and contractual framework was also discussed.

“During the meeting, the head of the Tanzanian government identified a number of promising areas of bilateral cooperation, on which relevant instructions and directives were issued to authorized agencies for immediate follow-up with Belarusian stakeholders. The Prime Minister of Tanzania invited his Belarusian counterpart, Aliaksandr Turchyn, to visit Tanzania by the end of the current year,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Ryzhankou also held talks with Tanzania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Mahmoud Thabit Kombo. He invited his Tanzanian counterpart to visit Minsk in return.

The parties discussed events marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. During the talks, the need was noted to “create a joint trade commission to develop mechanisms for a multiple increase in bilateral trade, to bring potential joint projects to the practical implementation stage in such areas as agricultural mechanization, food security, education, fertilizer supplies and logistics, with an emphasis on cargo air transportation and the use of port infrastructure.”

Maksim Ryzhankou also held talks with sectoral ministers. With Minister of Education Adolf Mkenda, he discussed increasing the number of Tanzanian students studying at Belarusian universities, as well as a visit by a delegation from the ministry including representatives of Tanzanian universities.

“During Ryzhankou’s talks with Tanzania’s Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Bashiru Ally Kakurwa, the sides discussed the transfer of Belarusian technologies in breeding and veterinary medicine, as well as organizing a visit by representatives of Tanzania’s agricultural sector to Belarus for the Belagro-2026 exhibition in order to expand cooperation in livestock farming, aquaculture and biotechnology, including supplies of Belarusian animal and fish feed. The Tanzanian side expressed interest in Belarusian technologies for the production of veterinary vaccines, supplies of bioactive additives for livestock needs, as well as the selection of genetic material for cattle breeding,” the Foreign Ministry added.

On the first day of the visit, memorandums of cooperation were signed between the National Center for Export Support of Belarus and the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, the Tanzania Trade Development Authority, and the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation.
