Rosatom expects to sign a framework agreement on the construction of the third unit of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP) by the end of 2026. This was announced by Director General of the state corporation Aleksei Likhachev at the industry event “Information Day”.
“Together with our Belarusian colleagues, we are working on the financial and technical terms of the construction. By the end of the year we should reach the signing of the relevant framework agreement,” the newspaper Strana Rosatom quoted him as saying.
Overall, Rosatom plans to launch four power units in 2026.
It should be recalled that the day before, Belarusian Energy Minister Dzianis Maroz announced the start of preparations for the framework agreement. According to him, a joint working group of the Energy Ministry and Rosatom has already held several meetings. The minister named the completion of the framework agreement, the signing of the contract and the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Russia among the key tasks for 2026.
