Poland’s National Security Bureau (BBN) says that Russia and Belarus have intensified aerial provocations in recent months and expects such provocations to be repeated in 2026.
BBN notes that in many cases suspicious or dangerous activity involving drones and weather balloons has been observed near airports and military bases, often in countries located far from NATO’s eastern border.
“Therefore, in the coming year, as well as in the future, it is necessary to strengthen the capabilities of the Republic of Poland to ensure the security of our airspace, as well as the security of critical infrastructure facilities and military sites,” the bureau says.
The agency has published maps of drone and weather balloon incidents in Poland and other countries from September through December 31, 2025.
