Former political prisoner Andrzej Poczobut has spoken about his health. He is undergoing examinations in hospital following the exchange that took place on Tuesday.
Deputy editor-in-chief of Gazeta Wyborcza Bartosz Wieliński recorded a short video with Andrzej Poczobut, which was published on the newspaper’s social media. Poczobut had been its correspondent in Belarus.
“Dear all, years of working at Gazeta Wyborcza, when I described events in Belarus and other post-Soviet countries, have taught me respect and a cautious approach to words. And words really matter, even though we live in times when words, and even political beliefs, can be changed very easily, and are often changed. These are persistent things, and there are persistent people. And I wish all of you perseverance in what you do and what you believe in”, Poczobut said, addressing the newspaper’s readers.
Wieliński also asked about his condition.
“Thank God! Doctors say I am somehow holding on. Better than… better than I thought”, Poczobut replied.
