At the Vitsyebsk Emergency Hospital, an operating unit was flooded after a pipe burst, the Telegram channel White Coats reported. According to the source, water also entered the admissions department and several wards where patients were present at the time.
It is reported that after the leak began, it took several hours to identify the location of the accident and shut off the water. As a result, the damage is described as “very large.” Some expensive equipment was irreversibly damaged.
“Some costly equipment cannot be restored, including laparoscopic units and ventilators, X-ray equipment, as well as part of the stock of prostheses,” the report says.
The hospital is expected to be inspected on Monday by the chief physician of the Republican Clinical Medical Center, Iryna Abelskaya.
It is noted that this is not the first such incident at the facility. In January 2021, a pipe also burst in the surgical building, with water pouring from the ceiling near the operating rooms for several hours. At that time, serious consequences were avoided. According to sources, it was the same pipe that burst now as several years ago.
