The Interior Ministry has added another 17 individuals to the “List of Citizens of the Republic of Belarus, Foreign Citizens or Stateless Persons Involved in Extremist Activity”.
Among those included are Russian citizen Roman Sharkov and neurologist Ruslan Badamshyn. In 2024, he was sentenced to three years of “home chemistry” for participating in protests, and in 2026 he received 2.5 years in a penal colony. A week earlier, the KGB had added him to the list of individuals involved in “terrorist activity”.
The “extremist list” now contains 6,543 names.
Belarusian authorities regularly use extremism charges to target political opponents and dissent more broadly.
