Major exits from Minsk are planned to be built in concrete, with the Zaslavl direction scheduled for next year. This was announced by the Minister of Transport and Communications Aleksei Lyakhnovich, according to Belarusian state television.
“As for the satellite towns, the task for the next five-year period is to ensure that it is possible to reach the outskirts of Minsk in 20–25 minutes. The point is to make life in the satellite towns comfortable. Speaking of highways and access roads, a decision has been made at the level of the head of state — we will build the main exits from Minsk in concrete.
Right now we are working in the direction of Rudensk — this is the M4 Minsk–Mahiliou highway. The section there is quite large. We are widening it and building it in concrete. We have tested a technology of laying concrete over asphalt. Next year we will move toward Zaslavl. We will also carry out major repairs of the highway there,” he said.
It was earlier reported that additional buses will run to Zhodzina and Barysaw, and tickets for these routes will be sold at bus stops and online. A decision has been made to purchase an additional 15 intercity buses for the Minsk Regional Executive Committee. According to the minister, the aim is to procure the vehicles within the next week. Ticket sales under the new system are also expected to be launched within the same timeframe.
“The Minsk region will decide how many buses need to be added on each route — to Zhodzina or Barysaw. If we see that the queues have disappeared and the buses are not full, these buses may be redirected to other routes — including to Fanipol or elsewhere, where demand is higher. The satellite towns are also under special supervision,” the head of the ministry said.
Minibuses will continue operating alongside the buses.
