Alyaksandr Lukashenka in Oman aims to establish not only a logistics hub through which Belarusian goods will be supplied to countries in East Africa and Asia. He is also considering the construction of a tourism facility. He announced this today at a meeting with the president of the Oman Investment Authority, Abdelsalam Mohamed Al-Murshedi.

“A very important area for Oman and for our people is developing Oman as a tourism destination for Belarusians. You know that we are a northern country, and many Belarusians travel all over the world in search of better places for rest and leisure. We would very much like to have our own Belarusian tourism cluster here, not far from the airport, so that our people can diversify their travel options,” Lukashenka said.

According to him, a plot of land for the project has already been allocated. It is expected to be implemented with some “of our investors”.

“I am very grateful to you and to my friend the sultan for allocating for us a huge plot in an exotic place, uncharacteristic for Oman, where there is almost no sand and mountains — you have to travel far to find them — but there is a genuine oasis where the air temperature is acceptable for our people.

We would like to build there, together with you and with our investors who will be interested, such a tourism hub where our people will come. And you know, we have already made some progress in this direction.

A Belavia aircraft has begun flying here on a direct route. We are ready to expand the travel opportunities for our people — not only to the Emirates, to other countries, but also to Oman. The nature here is fabulous, the ocean is open. I am sure that our people will gladly take advantage of this tourism destination,” Lukashenka said.
