Alyaksandr Lukashenka convened a meeting of the presidium of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly (ABPA) today, presenting the agenda for the upcoming session scheduled for 18–19 December.
“The task of the presidium is to prepare the substantive part of the upcoming All-Belarusian People’s Assembly. First of all, it is necessary to form the agenda of the meeting and determine the speakers,” Lukashenka said.
It was previously reported that the ABPA is expected to approve the country’s socio-economic development programme for 2026–2030.
According to Lukashenka, he will also deliver a message to the people and the parliament during the assembly.
In addition, the gathering will have to make personnel decisions: delegates will elect a new member of the presidium, and the ABPA will approve appointments to the highest judicial bodies.
While discussing the agenda, Lukashenka stressed the importance of allowing everyone to speak on the five-year programme.
“Let’s agree that all delegates should be involved, no matter what positions they hold. Whether they are prominent scholars or workers and farmers — they must, to the extent of their abilities and education, understand what is being discussed. And if needed, if they want to speak, we should not forbid anyone from doing so.
People must speak. This is a serious forum; it will remain in history not only of the country, but of every person,” he said.
