The Minsk Capital Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers has sent a letter to Belarus’ Economy Ministry regarding drone attacks on Wildberries warehouse facilities in Russia. The letter is addressed to First Deputy Economy Minister Ivan Vezhnavets.
The union is asking the Economy Ministry to hold a working meeting to assess the current situation and develop a joint action plan to minimize the consequences for Belarusian businesses, as well as “to develop a mechanism for influencing the Wildberries marketplace at the highest level of the Republic of Belarus, including through diplomatic channels.”
The letter notes that goods belonging to as many as 22,000 Belarusian business entities may be stored at the marketplace’s warehouses.
The union also points out that the Belarusian legal entity IMVBRB LLC is the contracting party under the marketplace’s public agreement. As a result, Belarusian sellers “have no ability to influence the safekeeping of their goods at Wildberries warehouses in the Russian Federation and have no direct contractual relationship with the owners of those warehouses.”
Since July 18, Ukrainian forces have carried out a series of strikes on logistics facilities belonging to the Russian marketplace. More than 14 warehouses have already been hit, with some of them completely destroyed by fire.
