Alyaksandr Lukashenka, during a report by the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Vladimir Karanik, hinted to scientists about the need to create an invulnerable drone. While discussing salary increases and raising the status of researchers, Lukashenka said that rewards should be given only for tangible, practical achievements.
“If there are achievements, there will be results. Any money. Just come and say — as I often say about drones and so on, although I’m not obsessed with these drones. We need to cool down a bit on that. But, for example, a drone. Here you go — an invulnerable thing, flying, no electronic warfare, no weapon can reach it, relatively speaking. Get paid for the invention, for the prototype you’ve put on the table,” Lukashenka said.
“Provided that it’s been put into service,” tried to interject Karanik, the head of the Academy’s Presidium.
Lukashenka immediately interrupted Karanik and cited a negative example, reminding him that the Academy of Sciences had long been promising a Belarusian electric car, for which a lot of money had been spent, yet no vehicle has appeared.
