Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet and head of the National Anti-Crisis Management Pavel Latushka welcomed the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to appoint John Coale as the U.S. Special Envoy to Belarus. The Belarusian politician wrote about this on X.

“I welcome the decision of President Donald Trump to nominate John Coale as the U.S. Special Envoy to Belarus. I am grateful to John Coale for his work on freeing hostages, and I sincerely hope, as President Trump previously said, for the release of 1,500 hostages from Lukashenka’s prisons.” Latushka said.

He recalled that Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski and Sakharov Prize laureate Andrzej Poczobut remain imprisoned in Belarus.

“I hope that the United States, using its global leadership and the leverage of sanctions pressure, will be able to help secure the release of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski, Sakharov Prize laureate Andrzej Poczobut, and all political prisoners in Belarus without exception, as well as support the Belarusian democratic forces in resolving the deep internal political crisis in Belarus.” Latushka said.

Earlier, it was reported that Donald Trump had nominated lawyer John Coale for the position of U.S. Special Envoy to Belarus.
