IAEA Begins Inspection at Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is beginning a scheduled inspection at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant on Wednesday. The inspection will take place on Jan. 29–30.

According to Gosatomnadzor, the inspection will include a physical inventory of nuclear material, maintenance of IAEA containment and surveillance systems, and verification of record-keeping documentation.

The inspection is being conducted in accordance with the Safeguards Agreement related to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
