The Belarusian Health Ministry is conducting an internal investigation into the death of a woman in labor at the Dzyarzhynsk District Hospital. This was reported by Leanid Nedzien, head of the Main Department for the Organization of Medical Care.
“The Ministry of Health expresses sincere condolences to the family of the woman who died on 8 March at the Dzyarzhynsk Central District Hospital.
We inform that a special commission consisting of external specialists of the Ministry of Health is currently working. All stages of the provision of medical care are being assessed.
The final diagnosis will be established after the results of the pathological autopsy and the forensic medical examination are received.
A decision has been made to suspend the distribution and medical use of the medicinal product,” he said.
Earlier, media outlets reported the death of a woman in labor at the Dzyarzhynsk district hospital. According to those reports, the 26-year-old woman’s water had broken and she was taken to the hospital, where she died. Publications mentioned a possible anaphylactic shock.

The Investigative Committee is also conducting its own inquiry.
“An investigative task group worked at the scene. Investigators, with the involvement of specialists from the State Committee of Forensic Examinations for the Minsk region, conducted an inspection, seized medical documentation, as well as the medicines and instruments used. Witnesses have been questioned and a set of expert examinations has been ordered.
Particular attention during the inspection will be paid to establishing the causes and conditions that led to the death of the patient and the fetus. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified,” the Investigative Committee said.
