The Belarusian customs service has threatened to fine drivers and carriers of Lithuanian trucks who failed to move their vehicles to designated paid parking areas near border checkpoints.

According to the State Customs Committee (GTK), 1,045 Lithuanian trucks have arrived at guarded parking lots:
near Berastavitsa  — 429 trucks;
near Benyakoni — 166;
near Katlouka — 348;
near Kamenny Loh — 102.

Drivers of these vehicles are now allowed to leave Belarus.

Drivers of more than 220 Lithuanian trucks, 140 of which are parked along the roadsides, are being sought so that the vehicles can be moved to the designated areas.

“Lithuanian carriers who deliberately fail to comply with the obligation set by the Belarusian customs to arrive at the designated locations within the established timeframe will face the maximum administrative penalty (Article 24.3 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus, up to 100 base units),” the GTK said.
