The fight against intermediaries has been postponed until mid-April. By that time, a draft “comprehensive decree on urgent measures to eliminate dishonest and unjustified intermediation” is to be finalized. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly Alyaksandr Kosinets after a meeting with Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

“The existing legislative framework, the measures taken by the government, resolutions and plans are working to a certain extent. But at the same time they do not produce the desired result, because our socio-economic development is suffering enormous damage as a result of dishonest intermediation. The head of state has set the task of preparing by April 15 a comprehensive decree on urgent measures to eliminate dishonest and unjustified intermediation,” Kosinets said, as reported by BelTA.

According to him, the law on public procurement adopted in 2012 will need to be seriously revised. It should be noted that it has already been amended several times. Kosinets intends to pay “close attention to the loopholes that exist in the legislation.”

The draft will also provide for updating and maintaining a catalogue of works and services for public procurement, measures in the financial and economic sphere, initiatives related to import issues, as well as personal responsibility.

The comprehensive decree will also include a decree on procurement for rural areas, which was discussed today at the meeting with Lukashenka.
