The family of Sviatlana Kurs has announced the time and place of the farewell ceremony for the Belarusian writer.
“The memorial Mass will begin at 2:00 p.m. at St. Alexander’s Church in Three Crosses Square.
A civil memorial ceremony will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Museum of Free Belarus, 11 Foksal Street,” the statement said.
The family has asked mourners to limit the number of flowers they bring.
As previously reported, a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of the farewell ceremony for one of Belarus’ most prominent writers was launched on Thursday evening. Belarusians raised the required amount within six hours.
Sviatlana Kurs, who wrote under the pen name Eva Viežnaviec, died in Warsaw on July 19. Following the public farewell ceremony, her family plans to bury the writer in Belarus.
